Manipulation Under Anesthesia
Here We Go
Getting ready for tomorrow’s M U A. After reading about this procedure, it appears relatively straightforward. Occupational therapy sessions are lined up after the procedure. From what I read, it may be necessary to have an additional M U A. if for any reason my finger isn’t responding to OT.
The Anesthesia Part
I’m scheduled for 12 OT sessions following tomorrow’s M U A. I’m looking forward to that. My only concern is being under anesthesia. After my most recent eye procedure, my body was slow to respond after waking up from the anesthesia. That freaked me out.
Six Weeks to Recover?
Looks promising. This timeline chart is giving me hope. The doctor did mention that it may take longer. At this point I’m taking everything one day at a time.
No Phone and No IG
At least for the next 2-3 days. My doctors have advised me to not use my right hand and upper right extremities. Do you know how many times my phone has slipped away from my other hand? Way too many times to count.
Becoming a Lefty
Since my finger injury, I was unable to use my right hand. That was eleven months ago. It has been almost one year since i became a lefty. Writing, eating, drinking, working, and administering my eye drops has been with my left hand.
There is a list of things I haven’t been able to adjust to like drawing. Abstract art at best. Awkward at first but now it’s become nearly the norm. I still miss using my right hand.
Recovery
After my M U A, I imagine I have to rest my left hand, too, so I don’t add additional (cross over affect) pressure to my right hand. Time will tell.
